The faculty and staff at Somerset Christian College are deeply committed to their message of Christian faith and aim to create educational programs that support not only intellectual and academic growth but spiritual development as well. The school hopes to create an environment that inspires students to excel in their studies, engage them intellectually and help them emerge creative and competent individuals who are passionate about their work and their faith in Christ.
Somerset Christian College is an institution founded and maintained by the Pillar of Fire International. The larger organization was founded in 1901 with roots in the Methodist faith and the school itself began as the Zarephath Bible Institute in 1908. It originally served as the training ground for missionaries, preachers and teachers and still produces many valuable members of the church community today. The school follows the Wesleyan-Arminian model and hopes to provide a great Christian-focused education with the idea that the church is one body with many members.
Students at Somerset can pursue a Bachelorís degree in Narrative Biblical Theology, Organizational Leadership or Christian Counseling. Coursework in any of these majors will include an introduction to the Bible, Christian doctrine, church history, and practical Christian ministry as well as a strong foundation in general education as well. Students who do not wish to get a Bachelorís degree may want to enroll in the schoolís certification programs of Associate in Bible Studies programs.
Outside of the classroom, students at Somerset will have many other opportunities to grow and explore. Students can enjoy Christian music festivals, conferences, and other events that will help them make new friends, expand their horizons and have fun at the same time. Located in Franklin Township, New Jersey, students will be able to enjoy the countryside as well as historical sites, state parks, outdoor activities, professional sports and even take excursions to the beach.
