Oak Hills Christian College isnít affiliated with any one Christian denomination but instead aims to instill in students the basic tenants of the Christian faith within a strong liberal arts education. The school wants to serve both those who hope to go on into ministry work as well as those who just want to gain a greater understanding of the Bible and Christianity. Graduates of the school are given the skills to function in their communities as leaders within their career fields and the church.

In 1946, Oak Hills Christian Training School was founded in order to teach young men and women more about the Bible and to help them become religious leaders in their communities. Today the school is known as Oak Hills Christian College, and has been since 1985, but is still guided by much the same purpose. Thousands of graduates of the school have gone on to lead in churches and do missionary work around the world. Located in Bemidji, Minnesota, the schoolís main campus is home to hundreds of students enrolled in its educational programs.

Regardless of the academic program students choose to pursue at Oak Hills, courses will be drawn from three main areas: Biblical Studies, Christian Ministries and General Education. This way, students will get the Christian-centered education they desire without missing out on essential liberal arts courses that can help them in their future careers. Oak Hills only offers Bachelorís and Associateís degrees that are associated in some way with Biblical studies or ministry work. Students may choose to combine this with a specialization of their choosing, however, in fields like psychology, arts and business. For non-degree seeking students, certification programs are available as well.

Students at Oak Hill are not only involved in academic programs but are expected to participate in community outreach programs as well. This can mean teaching young children about the Bible in Sunday school or working with the elderly in nursing homes and students are able to choose the type of work that best suits their personal skills and interests. Students will get to connect with their classmates in these outreach programs as well as in chapel meetings that occur several times a week. When not in classes, students can enjoy the rural scenery and activities that are available in the surrounding countryside.
