Northwest Christian College wants to help produce leaders that will serve their communities, future employers and the church both in their hometowns and in any place they visit around the world. The school aims to create an educational experience that provides a firm academic foundation coupled with a focus on the Christian faith to build graduates that are intelligent and highly ethical in their practices. By putting a high value on academic excellence, character development, service to the community and great leadership the school hopes to give the students to emerge strong and confident in their faith and themselves.
The College was founded in 1895, giving it over 100 years of experience in providing divinity education. At the time of its founding it was called the Eugene Divinity School in honor of its founder and Disciple of Christ preacher, Eugene C. Sanderson. After a series of changes, the school came to be known by its present name of Northwest Christian College in 1934. Since then, its Eugene, Oregon campus has provided educational opportunities to students from Oregon and surrounding states.
Programs at Northwest Christian College are offered at both the Bachelorís and Masterís level at its Eugene campus. Students can pursue studies in a range of fields including Exercise Science, Mathematics, Bible and Theology, Music Ministry, History and more. Adults looking to go back to school can take professional programs at three of the schoolís campuses and schools are only taken in the evening for eight weeks at a time. Both adults and younger students applying to Northwest Christian will find courses and programs tailored to their individual needs and career goals.
Students at Northwest Christian College will work closely with faculty, enjoying both small class sizes and regular advising. When students are not in classes they can participate in sporting activities, playing or support the schoolís team The Beacons. Students will get the chance to play everything from basketball to volleyball and can take advantage of the myriad of other clubs and activities the school offers as well featuring movie nights, special events and the chance to make lifelong friends.
