The mission of Mid-America Christian University is to equip students with the skills to be leaders in their communities. Faculty and staff will help students to achieve their potential academically and spiritually through a Christian-focused environment. Students will learn to work in ministries as professionals and individuals no matter where they choose to call home or what eventually profession they choose to enter into.
Dr. Max R. Gaulke founded the University in 1953. Then it was known as the South Texas Bible Institute and was located in Houston, Texas. The school moved to its present location in 1985, and changed its name to reflect its new location and accreditation by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Today the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma campus is home to hundreds of students looking to build their Christian values and pursue a Biblical-focused career.
Students at Mid-America can pursue a variety of degree programs, some focused on Biblical studies and others more general libaeral arts and sciences. Some majors offered include Behavioral Science, Business Administration, Social Science, Music and Worship Ministry, Specialize Ministries, World Missions and more. Degrees are offered at the Associateís, Bachelorís and Masterís level depending on the program of study the student chooses to pursue. Students will also enjoy specialized training and support from the Toler Leadership Center and the Thomas School for International Studies, both full of great resources to promote ministry at home and around the world.
For students who cannot attend regular classes on campus, Mid-America offers online courses as well, making it easier and more convenient for many students to earn their degrees. The school offers educational programs that suit the diverse needs of students coming straight from high school as well as those balancing work and family life as adults. Students will not only enjoy a vibrant and varied academic life, but the school offers many opportunities to participate in athletics and clubs as well. Students can play and watch everything from golf to volleyball and join a wide range of religious and secular clubs.
