Life Christian University wants to help students make sound decisions about their spiritual and professional goals. Students will gain the skills they need to be effective and morally guided leaders in their communities and ministries. Working with faculty, students will take Christian-centered courses that are designed to aid them in pursuing their lifelong calling to work with the church in ministry around the world.
Founded in 1995 by Dr. Douglas Wingate, LCU is one of the fastest growing Christian schools in the country. The main campuses of Life Christian University are located in Florida in the Tampa area but there are places around the country from Arizona to Wisconsin where students can enroll with the university and take courses. There are even some campuses abroad that international students can enroll with as well. These colleges are known by many different names, and are often associated with a church, but all use the same curriculum that is given at Life Christian University. The school is accredited through Transworld Accrediting Commission International, agency that accredits theologically-based schools throughout the world.
Life Christian University can be ideal for students who donít have the time to commit to a more traditional educational program. Students enrolled with the LCU program, whether at their main campus or another approved institution, will get access to courses that can help them complete their degree with only one, three-hour course a week. The program takes about 4 years to complete and students will earn a Bachelorís degree once theyíve completed their coursework. The school also offers graduate work at the Masterís and Doctorate level as well, for those who are looking for additional training and education to further their careers.
The school focuses its educational programs on the ministry and students may find employment after graduation as pastors, ministers and chaplains. Some may even find their calling abroad and work with others in evangelist and missionary work around the work. Degree programs are available in the fields of Theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Counseling, Music Ministry, Church Administration, and Christian Education. Courses taught at the university will focus on integrating practical academic education with faith-based studies to ensure students emerge well-rounded.
