Kentucky Christian University is committed to producing graduates that are prepared to be leaders in the church in their home communities and in work around the world. Faculty and staff at the university believe that students should not only be educated academically but also learn how to make moral decisions, serve the needs of others and emerge with the skills and capacity to perform at a high level in the profession of choice. Students will get a background in liberal arts and humanities as well as a foundation in the spiritual teachers of the Bible enabling students to think both critically and ethically.
Founded in 1919 by J.W Lusby and J.O. Snodgrass, Kentucky Christian University was originally known as the Christian Normal Institute and taught not only college courses but high school and teacher education as well. In 1944 the school began focusing on its Christian purpose and changed its name and educational offerings. Today, the schoolís campus in Grayson, Kentucky is home to thousands of students working towards degrees in a range of majors.
Every student at Kentucky Christian University, regardless of their major, will take core classes that focus on the Bible and theology. Students will combine this with liberal arts studies as well as the professional courses theyíll need to complete their major area of study. Students can earn both Bachelorís and Masterís degrees at KCU and can focus on fields that include Education, Ministry, Near Eastern Studies, Business, Music, Nursing, Social Work and more. Students who are unable to commit to taking classes on campus will be able to enroll in the schoolís online program and take courses that better fit into their busy schedules.
Students at KCU will enjoy an active social life as well. Weekly chapel services are a part of the experience at the school and help build a sense of community and foster friendships on campus. Outside of spiritual and academic education, students can also take part in the schoolís athletic programs from basketball to cross country. The school also has a well-known choir that has put together albums and performed all around the world and several other Christian music groups have emerged from the school offering students a range of opportunities to explore their faith and creativity through music.
