Loans are another way for students to receive financial aid and attend the college of their choice. While some students may receive or apply for federal, state or bank-managed loans, students attending Christian universities and Bible colleges can also apply for loans from Christian organizations and church networks. These loans help pay for tuition and living expenses. They are awarded to students with strong Christian values, the level of church participation and extracurriculars, service clubs, and academic performance. Below is a list of several student loans available to those who choose to attend a Christian university or Bible college.
- Florida Baptist Foundation: The Florida Baptist Foundation Student Loan Program awards loans up to $2,500 per calendar year, with a lifetime maximum of $6,000. Loans are awarded according to a student’s financial need, Christian character, church activities, and/or academic record. Students must be a member of a Southern Baptist Church in Florida, be a legal Florida resident and be a full-time student. The student’s school may be outside of Florida as long as it is regionally accredited. Students receiving grants from the Baptist College of Florida or who receive a grant from Stetson University are not eligible.
- Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund, Inc.: The Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund extends financial aid in the form of loans and grants to more than 700 students each year, totaling more than $3 million. Loans can be renewed for up to four years and are available to students from Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina. Students must be U.S. citizens and they must attend either Virginia Intermont College, Oak Hill Academy, Hargrave Military Academy, or Fork Union Military Academy.
- Baptist Credit Union Student Loans: While these loans are generally applied for by all kinds of students, not just those enrolled in Christian schools, they are offered through the Baptist Credit Union. Students can apply for subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loans, EC II loans, and PLUS/Grad PLUS Loans.
