The scholarship search can be frustrating and overwhelming to any prospective student. Before and after you send out your applications, you’ll need to evaluate your family’s income and eligibility for many federal and state loans, grants and scholarships. To help supplement this kind of financial aid, look into Christian scholarships offered through the schools you’re applying to and from private organizations. These will help offset the price of tuition, living expenses, books and materials, and more. Below is a list of several Christian scholarships for a range of colleges and universities, for undergraduate students, ordained ministers and others.
- Vance H. Havner Scholarship: Columbia International University offers this scholarship to students who are preparing for full-time Christian vocations and who can prove that their families need financial aid. This scholarship is also based on academic performance and will only be given to those who attend CIU to train to become evangelism or mission-based ministers.
- Concordia University Presidential Scholarship: Two full-tuition scholarships are awarded to students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.6, earned a minimum of 27 on the ACT or 1210 on SAT, were active in community projects during high school and who attend the Presidential Scholarship Competition Day, during which students have one hour to write an essay. The scholarships have the potential to be renewed for up to four years.
- The Coy-Muckle Scholarship: Ordained Baptist ministers pursuing their first baccalaureate degree are eligible for this scholarship. Amounts vary, but recipients are guaranteed to be awarded at least as much as the cost of their tuition. Students’ churches must also cooperate with the scholarship fund.
- Liberty Baptist Fellowship: This scholarship is open to resident and online students at Liberty University. The resident award amounts to $1,000 per year, for a maximum of four years. Students who are affiliated with a member church of Liberty Baptist Fellowship need to ask their pastors to confirm their church membership. PhD. Counseling courses are not eligible to be covered by this fellowship.
- Campbellsville University: Campbellsville University in Kentucky offers several Christian scholarships, including the Baptist Leadership Award, which requires students to maintain a 2.0 GPA and provide service to campus offices. The Baptist Leadership Award offers two half-tuition scholarships; fifteen $1,000 scholarships; and forty-five $500 scholarships. Campbellsville University also awards a Christian Service Scholarship, Church Matching Scholarship, and more.
- All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Scholarship: This scholarship, offered in conjunction with The Columbus Foundation, is for students who are also members of All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus, OH.
- Vision International Education Network Scholarships: This school offers Christian ministry programs around the world. The Joseph J. Bohac Memorial Scholarship awards ten students a tuition assistance scholarship for undergraduate and graduate Counseling or Education degree programs. The Karen S. DeKoven Memorial Scholarship awards up to ten bachelor’s Master’s or doctorate students a partial tuition scholarship. Scholarships are determined according to students’ ministry work, academic performance and more.
- Mark Bondurant Memorial Scholarship: Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs accepts the Mark Bondurant Memorial Scholarship, which is given to upper-class students with at least a 3.0 GPA and who are pursuing a Pastoral Ministries major.
- Gladys Cooper Scholarship: Male students preparing for parish ministry vocations can apply for this scholarship, as long as they prove financial need. The Gladys Cooper Scholarship is accepted by the Nazarene Bible College.
